Samsung begins construction of a new R&D Center in Viet Nam

Hanoi, March 2nd, 2020 - Samsung Vietnam officially announced the commencement of the largest new R&D Center in Southeast Asia, located the Tay Ho Tay urban area. Hanoi Capital.

The construction of the new R&D Center has been quickly deployed after two important meetings between Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Vice Chairman of Samsung Group Lee Jae-yong in 2018, Hanoi and 2019 in Seoul.
The new Samsung Vietnam R&D Center has an investment budget about US$ 220 million with total construction area of 11,603 square meters and floor area of 79,511 square meters. The center is designed with 16 floors, 3 basements and is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
In addition to modern facilities and equipment for research, the new Samsung Vietnam R&D Center also offers an innovative and friendly working environment with facilities such as gym, club room, internal dining room and sky garden ...
Samsung's new R&D center is expected to be completed by the end of 2022
It is expected after operation, the new R&D Center of Samsung Vietnam will increase the workforce from 2,200 to 3,000 people.
This center is the first R&D center built overseas by Samsung Electronics to serve the research and development. And this is also the R&D Center built with the largest scale among the FDI enterprises in Vietnam.
Through the construction of a modern R&D Center, Samsung hopes the research capacity of Vietnamese engineers will be enhanced, not only in product development but also in research fields, world trend such as artificial intelligence (AI), internet of things (IoT), big data (Big Data), 5G network ... creating a premise for Vietnam to be ahead of industrial revolution 4.0.

Mr. Choi Joo Ho, General Director of Samsung Vietnam Complex said: “The construction of the new R&D Center is a strategic milestone in the history of Samsung investment in Vietnam. This is also contribute to the development of science and technology in Vietnam through training and nurturing talented human resources in high technology ”.
Currently, the total investment capital of Samsung Group in Vietnam is more than 17 billions USD, in which Samsung Electronics accounts for 9.5 billion USD with the first factory in Bac Ninh provinc, then the second factory in Thai Nguyen province, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi city.
The construction of a new R&D Center is a huge step forward in Samsung's 12-year investment journey in Vietnam.
